How is the Week Going?

How was your week? Tiring, exhausting, long, or draining? Is your work week just starting, just ending, or are you still going?

While it is an excellent opportunity to be an assistant, it can also be VERY STRESSFUL and ONGOING!  I remember, a little over ten years ago, when I first started assisting, I was always on the move. I was the energizer bunny; I just kept going and going and going! I never gave time to balance out my personal life. I became so engulfed in the life of the person that I was assisting; I forgot about myself. While their experience was impeccable, mines were in shambles. I had to learn the hard way to TAKE A BREAK.

Since it is Saturday, I wanted to share five things that can help you take a break and unwind from a stressful workweek.

  1. Clean up! At the end of the week, your house or car can look like a total wreck. When cleaning up, open the windows and use fresh scents to brighten up your place!

  2. Grab a mug!  Now that your house is clean and smelling amazing! Sit back and sip on your favorite warm beverage (Hot Cocoa, Tea, and or Coffee) while catching up on your favorite movies or shows!

  3. Turn on the tunes! If you are like me, I love different sounds. Make a new playlist just for the moment, turn it on shuffle, close your eyes, listen, or jump up and dance!

  4. Get out! Depending on the weather, grab a jacket and go for a nice walk in the park. Try heading to one of your favorite places, and people watch. You will be amazed at what you see people do! The critical aspect here is to be present at the moment.

  5. Phone home!  Call your family and friends and check in on them. Intentionally make it a point to laugh and love on them and to take in all the love they have for you!

As an Assistant, we tend to pour and pump gas into other people, and we don’t realize that we are running on fumes.

We can only give our best when we are at our best!

Thank you for spending the time with me!
